Juli Wood ( sax and vocals ) and Paul Silbergleit ( guitar ) were on the road in 2018 and 2019 as part of a Finlandia Foundation grant to play concerts of Finnish folk songs in many cities across the country, as far flung as Pittsburgh and Anchorage!

Being jazz musicians , they jazzed up those folk tunes, but retained the beautiful minor melodies. For this concert you will hear some of the folk songs from Juli’s CDs ” Synkkä Metsä ” ( Dark Forest ) and her newest recording featuring Paul on guitar ” Suomen Salossa ” ( In the Finnish woods ). Of course they will play lots of great jazz standards and some blues too . A great mixed bag !
